A native of Texas, Dr. Kimbrel earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch before completing his orthopedic residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In his early college years, Dr. Kimbrel was a distinguished baseball player for Sam Houston State, where he developed and nurtured his appreciation for the conditioning and care of athletes and treatment of athletic injuries. He was also selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the Major League Baseball draft.
Outside of his practice with Louisiana Orthopedic Specialists, Dr. Kimbrel enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and black Lab, playing guitar, fishing, golf and mastering the art of BBQ.
Dr. Kimbrel currently practices at our Lafayette and Scott clinics. “I feel LOS is the top orthopedic practice in the area. I appreciated their connection with the community and with the University of Louisiana Lafayette, so the choice was easy. Lafayette and the surrounding areas have some of the most welcoming people, and it felt like coming home!”
